Position: Machine Operator – Slitter

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Supervisor or designee

Hours: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 6am-6pm, or as assigned

Overtime: As required


Job Function

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or designee, will follow all established procedures and policies of the Production department while prioritizing safety, quality and efficiency to meet the goals of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The operator is responsible for all safety and quality procedures including the wearing of all required personal protective equipment
  • Operate large coating, printing, spooling, rewinding or slitting machines
  • Move and change rolls from the machine as necessary
  • Set up and configure machines per standard operating procedures
  • Read and follow work instructions and procedures. The operator is responsible for the verification of proper components at the work station before beginning a job
  • Operate various machines for which they are trained
  • Inspect all parts produced for defects
  • Package and label products accordingly
  • Completely and accurately fill out all required paperwork for Production and Quality Assurance
  • Properly scan in work orders and materials into Syteline
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly
  • Reports all deviations in proper machine performance to employee’s direct supervisor, other shop supervisor, and/or Maintenance personnel (when warranted)
  • Supports and maintains overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe
  • Provide coverage for other machines through breaks, or whenever needed
  • Package and label products accordingly
  • Provide retain samples for QA
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Other duties as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Requires skills of basic measuring equipment (calipers, rules, tape measures)
  • Good work ethic, respectful of others
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time or throughout shift as needed
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be detail-oriented

  • Powered industrial truck traffic

Physical Demands

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work in a fast pace environment with a high focus on safety and quality
  • Close interaction and work within a team environment
  • Power Equipment certification may be required
