These adhesives exhibit a soft and pliable structure, which provides the ability to flow into the fibers of paper and also adhere well to low surface energy films.
However, the adhesives do have a narrow band of operating temperature from approximately 30 degrees F to about 150 degrees F. Ideally, the tapes should be applied at an ambient temperature to allow a secure bond. In another edition of our newsletter, we discussed proper storage conditions. If these adhesives are stored at colder or hotter temperatures than recommended, they should be “conditioned” prior to application. Meaning bringing them to an ambient temperature level prior to applying them. Remember, these are chemicals and thus reactive to environmental conditions.
